Insect Discovery and Learning Center

In addition to the Conservatory, there is an interactive Insect Discovery and Learning Center where school groups and guests can learn about these aliens which live among us: invertebrates and their role in and benefits to the environment. Administered by professional educators, the center highlights a variety of exhibits, computer and interactive stations, a written activity guidebook (to take home), multimedia displays, and artwork illustrating educational concepts. Children love crawling through a tree trunk opening where they can witness an active honeybee hive behind glass - a perfect example of experiential education.

Daily lectures and demonstrations, designed for children, students, and adults respectively, will broaden horizons and stimulate a new way of thinking about nature. Plus, an 80-seat multimedia theater with a presentation stage (separate from the Giant-Screen Theatre) will continuously spotlight nature films, live programs and two-way video teleconferencing with other related sites around the world.

Field trips will never be the same!
